long time no chat (my bad)
oh, my dear hypothetical reader…i have been absolutely awful at keeping folks updated here. it’s not for lack of trying, but every time i get the itch, i stop myself with something silly like “well then you need to go back and reread all the old blog posts so you can match the tone and style” and it grows into a herculean task i cannot tackle.
here’s the thing about that particular mental block: creating a cohesive vision is not the point of this blog!! this blog is meant to be documentation of a journey, and journeys are all about change, so there is no purpose to that urge ultimately. it has only served to stand in my way, and prevented me from documenting some huge stages of the process, which makes me very sad.
all i can do is go forward from this point.
let me tell you, this point is a great one. if you feel so inclined as to pop over to my calendar, you will notice i’ve been keeping quite busy with festivals and fairs! this last saturday i was lucky enough to be pulled up from the wait list for the artists’ garage sale, and WOW was it tons of fun! hilarious interactions, great conversations, and enough sales to keep me afloat - can’t ask for more than that. it filled me with such inspiration i’ve been chopping up some fresh plush fruits and veggies ever since! coming soon will be blueberries, watermelon slices, and also…LARGER SIZES!! i’m so excited to continue pushing myself to make bigger plush! there are also tons more designs on the to-do list, and i WILL keep you updated on their progress, dangit. while the next event on the books is fresh paint august 17th/18th, i am firing off applications to events as fast as my fingies can fill out the forms, so keep an eye out for more.
what else have i been up to? well, it’s very slow going, but i am working on designing a fabric doll pattern. this will be a fairly large doll, i haven’t solidified scale yet as i’m still sculpting - pattern pieces are easiest to scale appropriately after taken from the sculpt - but it will be highly detailed and as realistic as my skill level permits (and yes, that means anatomically correct). this is a huge bucket list item for me, so i’m in no rush to complete it and will allow it to take as long as it needs to. the plan is to create the initial base, and iterate upon it for various body types. i love how it’s coming together and can’t wait to show pictures once the sculpt is finished.
another thing i’ve been having entirely too much fun with lately is BEADING. my goodness, jewelry in general is too much fun. i’m working on building up inventory to (ideally) debut the collection at fresh paint august 17th/18th! mix-and-match earrings, necklaces, and bracelets will be included. there may also be some ittybitty bead pets in there somewhere~
thank you for checking in on me, supporting in whatever ways you’ve been able, and choosing to support small artists in general. it makes a very real, very big impact on their lives that i can personally vouch for.
and, my little ask that you don’t forget…
make something every day <3
